The Forum 35 Cultural Diversity Initiative's 2012 MIXTURE celebrates Baton Rouge's diverse culture while raising money for the BR Walls Project. You'll definitely want to join us downtown for an event that will combine fashion, art, and music that will, without a doubt, generate an upbeat night out.
So, what will take place? An avant-garde design competition recreates mundane cultural images through pop art. Designers use inspiration from the works of Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, James Rosenquist, and others to push the barriers of acceptable fashion while TJ Black paints live. Break-dancers and a DJ give the event sound and bring the entire movement to life. Nothing is off limits as this unique combination touches your every sense in order to change the way you look at modern culture.
Forum 35's Cultural Diversity Initiative:
The purpose of the Cultural Diversity Initiative is to help build a Forum 35 that represents the community we live in. This is done by promoting dialogue, discussion, and activities that expose our current membership to Baton Rouge's rich and diverse culture. With our enthusiasm and support we hope to also encourage those we meet to join us in our journey towards a Baton Rouge that embraces difference.
The BR Walls Project:
The mission of the BR Walls Project is to stimulate creativity and economic growth in our city by having artists paint key landmark walls in our downtown area. Commerce Creates Art Art Creates Commerce. The BR Walls Project will enhance the artistic beauty of the large wall spaces throughout downtown & will continue to expand the visual arts scene of the city.
