Deadline Extension, Jurors
BATON ROUGE –Call for Entry for Forum 35’s 2014
Art Melt has been extended to midnight on Monday, June 2. Artists may submit up
to three pieces online at artmelt.org.
Forum 35’s Art
Melt is the largest multi-media, juried art exhibit in the state of Louisiana.
Now in its 11th year, Art Melt strives to promote professional artists
throughout the state of Louisiana while providing an opportunity for the public
to experience the best of local fine art, music, and performing arts. This show is open to Louisiana resident
artists only. All art must be original pieces and produced within the past two
artwork selected will be available for sale and displayed to the public in the
Art Melt exhibit from July 19 to August 28, 2014 in the Capitol Park Museum
gallery in downtown Baton Rouge. Viewing of the gallery will be free to the
public on opening night, Saturday, July 19, from 5 PM to 9 PM. Opening night
will also feature an outdoor festival with cultural and musical performances,
and an arts marketplace. Following opening night, viewing of the gallery will
be available during regular museum hours and included in the regular museum
All submitted entries will be judged by three jurors
with a minimum of five years of curatorial experience – a local juror from South
Louisiana, a regional juror from the Southeastern United States, and a national
juror from outside the region.
The national juror will be Eric Robert Dallimore, co-owner and curator of Leon Gallery, a contemporary art gallery and event space in the
heart of Denver, Colorado. Dallimore is
a New Orleans native who received his BFA
from Louisiana State University in 2004.
In addition to his duties at Leon Gallery, Eric uses his experience in printmaking, photography, and
sculpture to engage K-12 students and their creative minds through Think 360 Arts, a leading provider of arts education programs and
services in Colorado.
Dallimore was named a 2014 MasterMind in the Visual
Arts by westword.com.
The local juror will be Katie
Pfohl, the newly-appointed curator of the LSU Museum of Art. Pfohl holds a
Ph.D. from Harvard University in history of art and architecture and received
her B.A. from Northwestern University in American studies. A graduate of the
Whitney Museum of Art Independent Study Program, Pfohl most recently worked at
the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
The regional juror will be announced at a later
winners of the 2014 Art Melt will be announced at the Art Melt Preview Party on
Friday, July 18 at the Capitol Park Museum. The Preview Party will also be the
first opportunity for the public to view the exhibit and purchase the artwork,
and will be a ticketed event. Preview Party tickets and additional details are
