BATON ROUGE – Forum 35 has selected Edward Pramuk as its 2014 Art Melt Louisiana Art Legend Award recipient.  Pramuk will be announced as the winner at the 2014 Art Melt Preview Party on July 18, and will formally accept the award at Viva il Vino on September 25.

The Art Melt Louisiana Art Legend Award is awarded in recognition and appreciation for the impact he and his work have make on the Louisiana art community and his continued public service to our state. Past winners include Mignon Faget (2013), C.C. Lockwood (2012), Rhea Gary (2011) and George Rodrigue (2010).

Pramuk studied painting, drawing and printmaking at the Akron Art Institute, and did Masters work at Kent State University with one year of advanced study at Queens College with James Brooks and John Ferren.

His work has been exhibited in Louisiana, New York and Texas. After working abstractly for many years, he moved toward figuration in 1980. His work focuses on themes from nature and jazz, with several large paintings currently on view in the LSU Middleton Library, and an exhibition of 20 paintings featured at the Baton Rouge Area Foundation headquarters.

Pramuk taught painting, printmaking and design at LSU for 35 years, where he pioneered the development of graduate pedagogical studies. He retired in 2000 with professor emeritus status.
