BATON ROUGE – Applications for the 2015 John W. Barton, Sr. Community Leadership Development Program are now open. The deadline to apply is August 7.
The 2015 program consists of three instruction sessions August 26, September 16 and October 14, and a matching session between program participants and local nonprofits on October 28. The program is being held at the LSU Business Education Complex. Each session will run from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. and is mandatory for successful completion of the program.
The Barton Program is hosted by Forum 35 and administered by LSU Executive Education. It trains up to 30 selected participants in nonprofit governance and matches them with local nonprofit organizations to serve on their Board of Directors. Forum 35 members are given preferential status in the application process. The program fee is $150 per person.
Forum 35 President Kasey Henry said, “Leadership is one of Forum 35’s core pillars, and is exemplified in this program. We strive to create community leaders who will work toward the betterment of Baton Rouge, and we believe Board service is an important part of that.”
LSU Executive Education Director Robin Kistler stated, “We are excited to work with Forum 35 on the Barton Program again this year. This program continues to grow and evolve and is a comprehensive introduction to the expectations and complexities faced by board members of nonprofit organizations.”
