Forum 35 sponsored the Dream Teachers Awards Gala at the Booster ($300) level, in support of East Baton Rouge Parish’s Teacher of the Year Semifinalist Michelle Perk of Southeast Middle School.
The Gala, which took place on July 11th, 2015, recognized Louisiana’s outstanding teachers and administrators. Forum 35 members Candace Parker, Vice President of Projects, and Sheri Gibson, Public Education Project Co-Chair, attended the July 11 event in representation of Forum 35.
"The value of a great education for every student cannot be overstated. Today’s students become tomorrow’s workforce for businesses in Louisiana. They become lawmakers, businesspersons, civic and community leaders, jury members, scientists, and especially teachers. They are the decision-makers of tomorrow, and there is no better way to ensure their success than to support those who influence them the most: our school teachers and principals," says Dream Teachers 2015 Chairman, Ben Heroman.
The mission of Dream Teachers is to inspire excellence in education, enhance performance in the classroom, and to recognize and reward exceptional Louisiana educators. Through awards, recognition and support, Dream Teachers help to elevate the image, standards and performance of Louisiana’s educators and, in turn, its students.
"One of the main ways that we support educators each year is by partnering with the Louisiana Department of Education to promote the Teacher and Principal of the Year programs. Since 2007, we are proud that Louisiana’s teacher recognition program has grown to become one of the top programs in the country," says Heroman.
