Forum 35’s Barton Leadership Program Applications Now Open
BATON ROUGE – Applications for the 2016 John W. Barton, Sr. Community Leadership Development Program are now open. The deadline to apply is July 31.
Barton is Forum 35’s investment in the present to ensure a lasting impact on the future. The program creates the stepping-stone young professionals need to become more effective leaders, and more importantly to help them use those skill sets in the nonprofit community.
Barton is hosted by Forum 35 and administered by LSU Executive Education. It trains up to 30 selected participants in nonprofit governance and introduces them to local nonprofit organizations by attending a board meeting and exclusive meet and greet for graduates. Forum 35 members are given preferential status in the application process. The program fee is $150 per person.
The 2016 program consists of four sessions and one Meet and Greet as follows:
Session 1 – August 17 at Woman’s Foundation
Session 2 – August 31 at Goodwood Library
Session 3 – September 14 at Baton Rouge Area Foundation
Session 4 – September 28 at United Way
Meet and Greet – TBD
This year we are excited to announce that the Powell Group has awarded a grant in support of the Barton initiatives. In addition, we’ve gained the financial support of Infinity Financial Services and Louisiana Scrap Metal Recycling. Both organizations include former Barton Fellows, and we are very excited about their current and future involvement with Barton and Forum 35.
