Forum
35 and LANO welcome this year’s class to the John W. Barton Sr. Leadership
Community Development Program
BATON ROUGE, La—Forum 35, a community of engaged young men and
women dedicated to improving and shaping Baton Rouge, is announcing this year’s
participants in the John W. Barton Sr. Leadership Community Development
Program.
Since 2004, Forum 35 and LANO have partnered to train young emerging leaders in
nonprofit governance and then match them with local nonprofit organizations for
service on their Board of Directors. The program is named in honor of John W.
Barton Sr. in recognition of his support of Baton Rouge's nonprofit sector for
over 75 years including his vision and commitment to developing new and
emerging leaders.
Based
on the applications received, the 2012 John W. Barton, Sr. Community Leadership
Development Program has selected 30 participants. The selected
applicants represent a diverse population of the Greater Baton Rouge community. Over 45 applications were placed with limited
space available. All applicants were
encouraged to apply in 2013.
Nonprofits seeking candidates for board or committee service are
encouraged to browse the biographies of the 2011 leadership class on the LANO
web site. The biographies include important information on the leaders'
interests and the skills and qualities that they have to offer a nonprofit
organization. Contact information for the leaders is included in the
biographies.
